This seminar is highly hands-on and is based on current examples from the participants. Using these examples we will cover the following subjects. First, we review the transformation of production systems from the third industrial revolution to Industry 4.0 (or the internet of things). We review the lean organisation as a basic concept, showing how a modern work organisation will support the principles of inclusion and autonomy. This will also include the principles of “lean” production, i.e. the detection and elimination of waste as a continuous effort for all disciplines, and the “lean” toolbox: Total Quality Management, Just-In-Time in production und logistics, Total Productive Maintenance, leadtime-reduction and KAIZEN. The seminar continues with the value stream with a focus on Value Stream Mapping as a tool for visualising, analysing and steering of value chains. We show how to incorporate holistic thinking and acting into controlling so that production controlling becomes a management service. The seminar concludes with a review of the impact of the “right” KPIs for the addressees in the value chain. Here we cover strategic and operational KPIs for steering and controlling production and develop a KPI-tree based on practical examples.

Lernziele

You will learn to understand production as the key area in the value-adding process. An effective controlling process will make transparent not only performance but also the input of resources. This will focus on achieving the targets for quality and timely delivery as well as the efficient use of any resources like personnel, services, means of production and inventories. The seminar will provide principles, processes and tools to make the value-adding process transparent and to organise it against lean criteria. The information and material flow will become visible using the methodologies of value stream management and value stream mapping.  Appropriate key performance indicators (KPI) will help to measure and steer these processes. Each value-adding process will be assigned the related process costs. A KPI system (KPI tree) will be developed in a specific example.
