Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Scientific Program Planning Committee and PDA, we would like to invite you to the Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products Conference to take place in Brussels/Belgium, 22-23 June 2022.
The groundbreaking success of CAR-T and AAV-based gene therapy signals the arrival of a new era of medicine and biotech industry. The unprecedented rapid development of the highly effective mRNA vaccine has offered a great hope for eventually ending the Covid-19 pandemic that has killed millions worldwide. Despite increased research to contain the Covid-19 pandemic, the cell-and-gene therapy (CGT) pipeline continues to grow in 2021. There are currently almost 2,000 CGT candidates in various stages of development. CAR-T and AAV continue to dominate across the industry, yet T cell receptor (TCR) T cells, non-AAV viral vectors, and RNA-based therapeutics are rapidly increasing in their numbers in the global CGT pipeline. While oncology and rare diseases remain the most active areas of CGT research and development, other more common diseases such as Alzheimer’s and ocular disorders are now being actively pursued. There is no doubt that the CGT pipeline will continue to expand, diversify, and mature in the coming years. However, recent setbacks ranging from clinical hold to program cancelation across the CGT community have revealed many great challenges ahead and reminded us that we as an industry still have a lot to learn in order to deliver effective and safe ATMP products to our patients.
In the 2022 Conference, the program will aim to set a special focus on the specific considerations for manufacture of ATMPs, to build a bridge between proof of concept and commercial manufacturing. Attendees can expect an interactive program including panel discussions and interactive sessions with opportunities for group work on specific topics of interest. Don't miss valuable take home messages and the important opportunity to engage with industry peers and experts on ATMPs. We are excited to finally return to a live event, including an exhibition, poster session, and networking opportunities.
We look forward to seeing you in Brussels in June for a long awaited in-person meeting!
Sincerely,
The Co-Chairs
Dayue Chen, PhD, Genentech/RocheRichard Denk, SKAN
